The Hurtt Fathers Advocate Corporation is a Black-led, grassroots Maryland 501(c)(3) nonprofit founded in 2025. HFAC grew out of lived experience and is being built to help fathers, young adults and families move through the barriers that stand between them and stability, opportunity and stronger futures.
THE FOUNDER’S STORY
How People First Came to Know Jerron
People around the world came to know Jerron Hurtt Sr. simply as Daddy. What began as sharing ordinary family memories online grew into something he never expected, eventually reaching more than one billion views around the world.
Behind what people saw online, life was changing in ways that would eventually change the direction of Jerron’s work. A deeply personal family experience brought years of navigating legal, financial, emotional and practical challenges.
What stayed with him was how quickly one challenge begins to affect everything else. Work affects housing. Transportation affects employment. Financial stress affects mental health. A legal problem can affect an entire household. And a person can need help without knowing where to turn, or feel too embarrassed to ask.
That understanding became part of the reason HFAC was founded.

But passion can only carry an organization so far. Lived experience created the urgency. It cannot be the whole foundation. If HFAC is going to serve people for years to come, it has to be built with structure, governance, accountability, measurable goals, strong relationships and sustainable funding.
WHY HFAC EXISTS
People Do Not Experience Their Problems One at a Time
So the support around them cannot be built that way either. HFAC works with people who are capable and motivated but may be missing the preparation, resources or connections that make the next step possible.
SOMEONE LOOKING FOR WORK
May also be dealing with transportation, housing, confidence, mental health, family stress or no one they trust to call.
A FATHER
May need help navigating a system while trying to stay steady and present for his family.
A YOUNG ADULT
May have real ability but not yet the preparation, people or resources that make opportunity possible.
A job opportunity means very little if someone cannot get to work, does not have the clothes to walk into the interview, or is carrying problems no one has helped them address.
BUILT TO LAST
Grassroots Does Not Mean Unstructured
HFAC began with one father’s story, but it is being built so that it does not depend on any one person. That means a Board of Directors that provides governance and oversight, careful program development, and working relationships with community organizations, institutions, workforce partners and employers.
It also means setting measurable outcomes, following up with the people we serve, keeping sound financial records and building sustainable funding so the organization grows only as fast as it can responsibly support.
The goal is not simply to provide services. It is to create opportunities that lead to measurable, long-term change.

He founded The Hurtt Fathers Advocate Corporation to turn what he learned into practical support, opportunity and advocacy for others. Today his focus is building HFAC into a sustainable organization that can serve people well beyond his own story.

What Guides the Work
Listen before assuming.
People usually know what is getting in their way. We start by asking.
Treat people with dignity.
Needing help is not a character flaw, and no one should be made to feel that it is.
A barrier is not a lack of potential.
A missing ride or a reading gap says nothing about what someone is capable of.
Measure whether it helped.
Good intentions are not the same as results, so we track what actually happens.
Build relationships that last.
The people around a family should still be there after one program or one grant ends.
ADVOCACY
Bringing Real Family Experiences Into the Conversation
Lived experience also led Jerron into nonpartisan family and fatherhood advocacy. Through public testimony, education, community conversations and engagement with policymakers, HFAC works to make sure the experiences of real families are part of the discussion when systems and policies are shaped.

Nonprofit Status
The Hurtt Fathers Advocate Corporation is a federally recognized 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, incorporated in Maryland in 2025.
EIN: 33-3382809
HFAC is governed by a Board of Directors and operates under its Articles of Incorporation and Bylaws. Its IRS determination letter, Articles, Bylaws and required nonprofit filings are available on request, as appropriate.
Donations
Donations support the charitable mission of HFAC. Contributions to a 501(c)(3) organization may be tax deductible to the extent allowed by law. HFAC cannot advise on your individual tax situation, so please consult your own tax professional if you need tax advice.
Online donations are processed through PayPal. If you believe a donation was made in error, contact us within 30 days and we will review your request.
Privacy
When you contact us, donate, register for an event or sign up through this website, we may collect information such as your name, email address, phone number and anything you choose to share. We use it to respond to you, process and acknowledge donations, register participants and operate the organization.
We do not sell, rent or trade personal information. We may share it with service providers that help run the website or process donations, or when required by law. To review, correct or delete your information, email info@thehurttfathers.org.
