The Hurtt Fathers Advocate Corporation
Programs and Family Support
Family & Youth Support Programs
HFAC provides practical support that helps fathers, families, youth, and young adults across Baltimore and Maryland overcome barriers, build confidence, access resources, and move toward greater stability and opportunity.
Achieving Our Dreams (AOD) Pilot Program
Achieving Our Dreams is a pilot program designed to help young people prepare for stronger futures through education, mentoring, life skills, career exposure, workforce readiness, and encouragement to stay engaged in school and their goals.
The University of Baltimore School of Law, through the Sayra and Neil Meyerhoff Center for Families, Children and the Courts, has provided curriculum and partnership support for the AOD pilot program.
Confidence Through Community
Confidence Through Community helps fathers, youth, and families access professional clothing, personal care items, and other essentials so they can show up with confidence for job interviews, court, school events, graduations, and important family milestones.
Mental Health & Wellness Support
HFAC connects fathers, families, youth, and young adults with licensed mental health professionals, counseling resources, wellness support, referrals, and trusted community partners when additional help is needed.
We understand that challenges involving family, employment, finances, and everyday life can affect a person’s well-being. Our goal is to help people find support before they have to face those challenges alone.
Father Advocacy, Referrals & Family Support
HFAC provides father advocacy and family support in Baltimore and communities across Maryland, helping fathers and families understand available resources and connect with organizations that can assist them.
Support may include connections to parenting and co-parenting resources, employment and workforce services, housing and basic-needs assistance, mental health resources, education, mentorship, family services, legal-resource referrals, and other community-based support.
For fathers dealing with difficult family situations, we help them identify resources, ask the right questions, understand where to seek assistance, and connect with trusted professionals and organizations. HFAC does not provide legal representation, but we can help connect individuals with appropriate legal and community resources when available.
Education & Workforce Resources
HFAC helps connect fathers, families, youth, and young adults with GED and high school equivalency preparation, adult education, job training, workforce development, career readiness, employment services, apprenticeship opportunities, and other career pathways.
We help individuals identify available programs and connect with resources that may support education, credential attainment, job preparation, employment, and long-term career growth.
Whether someone needs help completing their education, preparing for the workforce, finding training, or figuring out the next step, HFAC works to connect them with resources and opportunities that can help them move forward.
Resource Navigation & Referrals
Sometimes the hardest part is simply knowing where to go for help.
HFAC helps individuals and families navigate available services and connect with resources that may address, housing, food and basic needs, parenting, mental health, family support, legal assistance, and other barriers affecting stability.
We do not believe families should have to figure everything out by themselves. When HFAC cannot provide a service directly, our goal is to help connect people with someone who can.
Our goal is simple: help fathers, families, youth, and young adults feel supported, informed, connected, and better equipped to move forward.
